      Default Gravid Boa Temps.

I want to know wether a gravid boas enclosure stays at the 84-85 F temp 24 hours or has a nightly drop. Ive been doing the 24 hrs with great results but wanted to know what the rest of you breeders do? Thanks in advance.

Is 84-85 your hot spot? If so, I would raise that a few degrees to around 88.

Good Advice! I don't think 92 is too high.

I keep my hot spot at a constant 95 once she is gravid. The rest of the time it stays at 89 constant. I do not do any night drops with the hot spot just manipulation of the room temps due to normal cooling in the house.

Cage temperatures will vary depending upon different individual set up situation. That temperature is not what you need to key in on. Neither in the warm area temperature. The key is the female MUST be able to raise her own temperature to 88-89 degrees for sure in the mid to late afternoon. This usually means the warm area will need to be set at 91-92 degrees. A female that is constantly on the heat and is only 87 degrees is TELLING YOU she needs more heat, or you risk making a underdeveloped litter. A female that never or rarely sits on the heat and is able to maintain that temperature is probably OK, but I prefer forcing the female to work at it.

I prefer my females move onto the heat and off. Mostly on AND be able to maintain their temps at 88-89 degrees. A room temperature in the mid to upper 70's increases the likelihood of your success. Lower room temperatures increase the breeding challenge. Short cuts are the path to failure.

A female that is carrying slugs will likely not maintain the higher temps you are looking for. So that possibility will complicate your guestimations of what's happening. The only real teach of this is experience and there is only one way to gain that.
