Sexed Saturday's Sterling litter this morning. Adequate numbers of both males and females. Definitely not parthenogenesis.

now it's time to start out crossing those puppies into other projects!

Way to grab our attention with the titleGlad to hear you have plenty of males and females. That means you can send a pair here, right?

How bad is the sticker shock gonna be..!

I'm sure that you've thought of all of this, being that it is your project but here are my thoughts so you can tell me what I have screwed up in my head.
The best thing for the project long term is for you to set the price at the upper edge of what the market will bear. Given that this is a new recessive morph that looks awesome, that should be a pretty hefty initial investment. This way, the people that are willing and able to invest in your project can anticipate a decent ROI. These are the same people that, ideally, will help you expand the project properly because they are just as interested in protecting their initial investment and also make sure that your animals are bred to the most beautiful morphs on earth - which, in turn, makes the project more desirable and gives it longevity. If handled properly, this project should remain viable for a long time and everyone in the food chain can enjoy working with these animals as their price inevitably drops from one bracket to the next, and the people at the top can keep riding the wave from one new Sterling combo to the next. Everybody wins.
There have been projects in the past where this dissemination process was mishandled - for example, you might find an animal available for 5k one week and 1.5k the next. The result of this kind of unstable foundation is that the guys with money to spend get scared off and the whole project suffers. Just my $0.02. I've spent an inordinate amount of time thinking about this kind of stuff. I'd like to hear what other people think as well.

You've nailed it. My "boa consigliere" also noted that when people set prices and then panic and start dropping them, they are screwing the people who bought at the higher price. When I set the price, that's going to be the price for quite a while. The availability of this morph is very limited, and therefore, they are valuable. With it being recessive, at least it's more difficult for someone to rush out and tank the market. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Motley.
All that being said, it is my desire and intent to be reasonable and fair.

More exciting news!!!
"The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance - it is the illusion of knowledge."

Judgment nailed, indeed. We all want to see this morph mixed into the best combos and this only could happen if big breeders are interested...and this is possible if the market is protected.
But I´m really curious of the price!!!!
