Default Pituophis deppei jani eggs! (N. Mexican pine snakes)

      I paired this male

      to this female

last night I came home to this

eventually, the eggs were being stacked higher and totally blocking the hole in the lid. So I carefully pulled the lid off and waited for her to lay the rest of them. This was the view from my camera as I watched (she has one egg left to drop here)

      Final count is 12.

The one off to the left by itself was the last one out and most likely a slug. I'll candle them after they have has a few days in the incubator.

Happy Dance! Those are beautiful snakes...when I bred the bull & gogher snakes I used to have, their huge healthy eggs were SO impressive. And oh what SASS eventually emerges, LOL! Congratulations
to you & Mama deppei jani! ("Janice"?)

That's awesome! Those are really cool looking snakes. How long do the eggs incubate for?

Average is 65 days. I have had them hatch at 71 days, too. All depends on temps.

Besides that, they're great pets with personality & stay a nice size to handle. I miss keeping Pituophis, but I have no room for more snakes these days, sadly- otherwise I'd be in line for one of these!

Turns out the one I thought was a slug is actually viable.

I never threw out "iffy-looking" eggs until they clearly began to turn bad (smell etc), some of them sure do surprise ya. Even if they may fail later, it's best to make sure.
You know, you're making me miss the smell of 'snake eggs a la vermiculite' in the morning...
