Default jungle carpet python vs. Irian Jaya

Hey all. I was looking into getting a jungle carpet python or an Irian jaya and wanted to know what are the the pros and cons of one vs the other? Which one would you all go with? Also where would be a good place to get a nice bright colored one of either the jaya or jungle carpet? Any reccomendations or personal experiences with either, please share. Thanks a bunch.

Basically the care for both snakes is very simular. A large arboreal cage is recommended with plenty of branches for climbing. Both snakes are highly variable in color and are both noted for having pleasant dispositions. The Irian Jaya carpet python is the smallest of the carpet pythons reaching between 4-6 feet. The jungle carpet python is slightly larger reaching up to 7 feet. Probably the most notable difference between the two snakes is the fact that Irian Jaya carpet pythons are relatively new in U.S collections. Little was known about these snakes until about 1994. Personally I dont think you can make a bad decision when buying either of these two snakes, and your best bet would be to buy a captive bred baby from a reliable breeder online. If you have any other questions feel free to ask away.

I was just looking around in LLL Reptile's site and they have some captive bred baby Irian Jaya Carpet pythons. I have done business with them before and they are an A+.

I mostly deal in carpet pythons...they are my favorites....The Jungle Carpet Python (JCP) is semi arboreal as a yearling while the Iran Jaya Carpet Python rarely climbs... JCP's are moslty yellow and black all their lives and Iran Jayas can grow up from a tanish brown to a red marron type coloring...the paterns on both are relatively the same...
