Dumeril's Hunger Strike
My Dumeril's been acting kind of weird recently. He's always been skittish, but a very good eater. 2 weeks ago, I pre-killed the rat and tried feeding him. He struck the rat several times, but as a defensive strike. I waited again until this past week, giving him time to get hungry in case he just didn't have an appetite. I decided to try live this time, to get a better feeding response. However, I got the same response. He struck the rat when it got close, but wouldn't want to eat. I almost got bit by the snake when I pulled the rat out of there. For some reason, he just seemed scared as soon as he smelled the rat. He's never been bitten in my care and has no scars at all, and never had a problem before now. I did move him from a tupperware box into a 75 gallon last week, could it be he's not used to his new home? I've had him about 4 weeks now. He's just over 4 feet long. Any ideas what's going?
