He's far from over it...but I'm very pleased with 3 days of agressive care.
Story goes like this...rescue boa...he'll be placed after he's recovered with a new owner...but he was brough to me with a nasty case of scale rot (necrotic dermatitus)...This can be life threatening as scale rot works from the inside out, not the outside in. So systemic antibiotics should be a must.
I took this little guy to the vet, very professional, kind & down to earth lady named Dr. Kandi (no she's not in adult entertainment that's really her name). She gave me Baytril and charged me $10.50 for the entire vet visit! So upon bringing him home I have sterilized his tub everyday, gently bathed the affected area with a diluted antibacterial soap, then swabbed it with a solution of 50/50 peroxide and water, gently patted dry and applied neosporin. Fresh bedding everyday...I used pillowcases (we have a hugeeeeee stack of about 50 ) because they are close knit but absorbent, a little softer than paper towels, and easily laundered with disinfectant, soap and bleach. So here are a few photos of the process so far. First up...the pictures from the day before he went to the vet. You can see the yellowish liquid...nasty

and after these were taken I took scissors...cut down the middle of that dead/shed skin to let that drain out and a day later trimmed it closer to the sides. Tonight during the washing process I assisted his shed and very, very carefully over the bad spots. He is such a docile boa he never gave me problems with squirming or trying to get away, almost as though he was relieved he wouldn't have to do it alone. Anyhow...here are the most recent updated pics...

I'm thankful for having such a wonderful vet in our area who cares about reptiles and isn't out for the almighty dollar. Thank you Dr. Kandi. The first vet I called in our area turned me down straight out & informed me they didn't deal with reptiles. Warsaw Veterinary will always be the place to take my reptiles now.
