Here's my problem with the "Center for Consumer Freedom" - they're a lobby group for the large food/pharma engineering companies particularly Monsanto. I live in Sonoma County there are dairies every where and not one of them supports "Center for Consumer Freedom" and most are at odds with the Western United Dairymen. There are very few "small" farmers left in this country, the vast majority of our food and livestock are under the control of about 5 corporations who are doing their best to squash what's left of the small farmers.
Over the past decade Monsanto has basically made it impossible to grow soybeans unlesss you are using their product. Their genetically modified soybean can be sprayed with Round Up (also their product). But you can't keep the seed, so every year you have to buy the seed from Monsanto. There are a few holdouts but they're slowly being sued or driven out by Monsanto. I would really suggest doing some research into this if you ever have any spare time, it's pretty interesting in a depressing sort of way. I grew up on a ranch and have known a lot of real small farmers so I have a bit of a personal investment in this... A fairly good documentary is Food, Inc. You can probably watch it for free online.
Here's an article about the Western United Dairymen hanging out with one of the big guy's from Monsanto -
