which show would be more worth going to for a person on a budget and only looking to purchase 1 boa? they are both fairly close together in dates (august) and i have to choose one over the other. the atlanta show is only 60-90 minute drive from me, where as the daytona show is probably around 8 hours.
i've been to the atlanta show twice and im pretty sure the two main breeders i would be going to first thing will be there. cant confirm that cause they havent updated the vendor list for the show yet. the show isnt all that big, and there is rarely anything there that i want that i can afford, apart from the two breeders i like dealing with there. pc reptiles being one of them
if i choose to go to the daytona show, it would be my first time. i know its the biggest show in the southeast, and id hate to miss out on it. but there is always next year if i choose not to go. but what im curious about is... with it being such a big and popular show with lots of top breeders, will there be much available for the consumer on a tight budget? say... some sort of colorful salmon or salmon cross male? i know pc reptiles will be there, but im not sure if he does much with salmon.
which would you choose?

The Atlanta show is much smaller than Columbia. I doubt you will find anything there that u couldn't find in columbia

Thanks for the info. Hmmm.... that's frustrating. I guess I'm gonna have to fly to Tinley Park.

Don't waste your time. I've never been to Daytona but the hype is backed up year after year by testimony and footage. I've been to Atlanta 3x and I don't look forward to it as much as I do viewing the results of Daytona each year.
And I'm only 20 minutes away from the Atlanta show.

So it's not even worth it at all??? I really can't drive to Daytona (over 10 hours) but would be able to make the drive to Atlanta. How many boa breeders are usually there?

There are usually very few boa breeders there. Most of the people there are wholesalers I guess you would call them they have a little bit of everything. I have found some nice boas at the atlanta show but there is rarely any higher end boas. The show is getting better each year though. I will definately be there but then again its only an hour from me.

And there you have it. Cut your expectations in half and you may not be disappointed. BWSmith is usually there with his hots. It seems to be lizard- heavy sometimes (beardies, geckos) with some milksnake/kingsnakes morphs to make it interesting.

Re: Atlanta or Daytona?
Hmmmm...well I have never been to a show before and probably won't be able to make a purchase anyway. So I might just go to check it out. Maybe catch a Braves game while I'm there.

Re: Atlanta or Daytona?
its not a very big boa show. like phoenix said... its heavy on the lizards, milksnakes, and pythons. pc reptiles wont be there, who always has a nice selection of boas, high end and low end. the redneck herpers wont be there... dont know their actual name, but they always have the biggest display of everything, and you can tell that their animals arent in the best of health. another breeder i deal with wont be there either. so i dont see a point in me going at all.
unless i rake in some o/t here soon, i wont be able to budget in anything for the daytona show. so i might shoot for tinley and really get an experience. plus id be killing 4 birds with one stone... visit my sister, hit up rodent pro, hang out with nick and pick up my hypo, and get something at the show possibly. win win situation

Re: Atlanta or Daytona?
I have been to Daytona the past 2 yrs and I must say last yr was not as good as it was in 2007. There were a lot of larger snakes that were missing since the law down there requires you to have a license and N.E.R.D and Ralph Davis weren't there either. All in all its fun...its different and exciting....it is also very warm in that building and crowded lol
Hoping to be down there again next month! We shall see
