So I went to my local Navy recruiting office yesterday to find out some basic info and most likely end up joining. Well needless to say, after a few hours of filling out paperwork it looks like I may be shipping off to recruit training by the end of the month! The thing I thought was interesting was that I origionally wanted to get an M.O.S. as emergency fire and rescue but as we talked all the guys there strongly suggested that I go for Spec Ops as a Navy Seal or at least have a strong recommendation for it on my papers

I go back to the office on July 8 so I guess we'll see whats up
Oh, and sorry if this is a little random lol I'm kinda excited

I am sure i speak for eveyone when i say "I hope the good man up stairs keeps you safe and brings you home to your family after you have served your duties." Navy Seals sounds wicked and hope that you get in...i have seen what these guys are put through as training and OMGosh is it intense! Hope it all works out for you brother!

Thanks! I've watched a few videos and yeah, I'm a little nervous but if that is what I'm supposed to do then I'll just put everything out there and go for it

But yeah, thanks again and also thanks to all of our troops for everything they go through for us!

do yourself a favor and dont go in as a seal. very few make it and if you drop then your stuck chipping paint on a ship with no real job. good luck. i was in for 6 years as a fc. if you have any questions feel free to ask. remember its your recruiters job to get you in.

I've still gotta go on the 8th so I'll ask my recruiter about that then. Although if that is the M.O.S. that I go for I won't drop out because I could'nt take anymore. It'll be because I've seriously injured myself lol I'm way too stubborn :P

i am sure you are in great shape and you train hard but this isnt like anything you could ever think of. some of the hardest people i have ever met couldnt take it and they said the same thing. do you enjoy running and swimming? i am not saying you cant because maybe you can but the chances are not in your favor.

Congratulations brother and thank you for even considering defending our GREAT nation.

I think what truss is saying (and I agree) it's good to have a back up plan because I don't believe sheer determination can make you a SEAL, though you need a lot of that, I think there are a lot of factors. One being genetics. Heck if determination was everything, I'd be finishing up an NFL carreer right now!

Good luck though in whatever route you decide to go!

just remember one thing. your foolish act now can cause you years of a horrible job in the military. if i was you i would find a mos that you can strike seal from instead of going in as a seal. when you go in as a seal you go in with no job. it doesnt really matter to me what you do but i have seen many people hate there life because of what they picked in the navy.

I agree with the intent of what others are saying. It is better to have a classification going in than to have them assign you one later.

Speaking as an 8 year Navy Veteran, I will say that I had the first 6 years of my Navy life was decided before I signed the paperwork. This included where I would be stationed, and what schools I would attend. I knew where basic training would be, where my A and C schools were going to be and even where I would be stationed for my sea duty. The only thing I did not know was exactly which ship I would be assigned to.

There are great MOS or classifications. Be sure you find out what your test scores qualify you for, and pick from available jobs within those options.

I loved the NAVY, and would never take for my experiences there.
