i know that my rtb has passed but for future references what would be the best and easiest way to keep up humidity in a wood enclosure? the enclosure dimensions are 5' x 2' x 2' made of 3/4" plywood stained and sealed with a plexi glass door in front a radiant heat panel for heat and 2 wax like tortilla holders as the water bowls. i know tortilla warmers sound weird but the edges were smooth and he could not tip them plus they hold alot of water. i had to mist the tank 3-4 or more times a day to keep humidity up.

Re: humidity control in wood cage
Personally, I am not fully sure if there is a specific way besides misting & moving the heat lamp near a water bowl...
But.. I noticed that no one replied to this, so I am going to bump* this up for you... Hopefully someone will respond with more info/advice
And sorry again for your loss

Re: humidity control in wood cage
I built the same cage (5x2x2, wood, glass front). For heat I used ultratherms, its inside floor heat, so I just put the water about 1/2 way over the ulratherm. That keeps it between 50 and 60. During shed I simply move the water a little further over the heat and it bumps it up to 70.

Cool, what are ultratherms? I just tried looking them up, and all I got was a bunch of listings for soldering irons lol

Basicly its flexwatt already wired and covered in plastic. Check out beanfarm.com, they have several sizes. Good stuff.

Re: humidity control in wood cage
It wont burn them if used carefully, but I recommend putting them on a t-stat to control temps. I also keep two different thermometers reading temps just to be safe. When I was researching what kind of heat to use ultratherm came up over and over. Especially if you need inside the cage belly heat. I'm in the, belly heat is needed for digestion, camp, lol.

Re: humidity control in wood cage
We have a wood/plexi cage as well. We installed under-tank heating and placed the water dish over it with good success. I've noticed since I've had to turn our heat on (gas) the air has gotten drier; now we're misting 3 times per day depending on who's home. Also I make sure to get her branches, etc. wet so that helps keep the humidity up as well.
Hope this helps!

Re: humidity control in wood cage
with the radient heat panel the under tank heater is not needed for the snake its self so when i built this enclosure i did not put one in or leave a place for one to go i am thinking of changing the water dishes to something like glass or tupperware i was also thinking of using something like kitty grass inside since the grass is not poisonous but i don't want to have to trim down his bedding every week
