      Default combining boaphile cages

I really don't feel like building a heavy 6' or 8' wood cage for my retic, or paying to much to buy another, so I'm about to connect 2 boaphiles together. I have a couple extra 421D's hanging around, so I figure why not. Just wondering if anyone has done this before. I'm planning on setting it up the same way the bearded one does with the extensions. I'm making "stencil" so I make sure the opening on both cages are identical so everything will line up when I cut the sides out. Then I will use the cut pieces to fill the gap when I bolt them together. This will of course be my base cage of the stack and will be on the pedestals, so it will be secure. Anyway, if you have experience with doing the same, I would appreciate you for sharing your experience. Thanks

Sounds like a good plan thus far ....good luck .

I'm not a handy man so I'd be worried about the actual fixing the two vivs together but it sounds like you've got it under control

Jeff does this on some of his cages so I am pretty sure you can figure out how to open the sides and make sure that they don't come apart.

I finally got around to connecting the two boaphiles together. It came out pretty good. She was not a fan of me taking pics like the paparazzi since I woke her up, so she took a shot at me. Luckily she missed.

This first image is from the far end. I used a 421D and 421T so it can be a 6' or 8'. I got a little saw happy and trimmed it down a little short, but I was still able to bolt each corner (top front had to go closer to the middle) to secure them together.

The second image is showing the spacing between the two cages, and the "top front" bolt. I used parts of the cut outs to fill in the gap, but as I came to find out, it was a little wider than expected. I will have to use silicone to seal it up in case she happens to wee right in the crack. Although unlikely, we all know these guys will do the one thing you would never expect to happen. Had one wee on the bottom of the window just right and it sprayed out the nasty.

And finally, the angry one herself (she's just over 10' in case you were wondering)

Hey that looks good. Sorry I didn't see your earlier post. I did the same thing a while back. This thread has the details and pictures. Re: question about animal plastics cages..or any pvc cage really.

I have a 4' long and 24" high , wooden viv and I also have a spare viv around 30" long and 24" high but I'm contemplating joining them together to make more room . Can't decide wether to add it on to the cool end and make a nice long viv ( although space is tight ) OR maybe stick it on TOP of the cool end which would still provide extra space but also give the snake some exercise ??

      Any thoughts ??

I say be careful putting it on top. Boas a strong and could possibly push it over unless it is secured very well. I like the idea of multi-layer cages.
