    Re: Incubating question

It's just a cooler from Wal-Mart for $50, PC fan from Radio shack for $10, egg-crates from Home Depot for $10, water bottles and $3.00 in Flexwatt. Total cost to build was under $100 w/out the Thermostat. It's funny to see similar incubators on the net being sold for $400-$500...lol It took a few minutes to set up and works great. If you need help setting one up, just email me. You can use any cooler of any size you need, it can be as small or as large as you can find. I use Helix to control the temps which is $125, but you can get a used one or another brand for $50-$80.

This one for example was about $100 in materials, including the $50 cooler from Wal-Mart and of course you need a thermostat ranging from $50-$125. It incubates 4-8 clutches at a time depending on size of clutch and tubs used, here shows 4/12qt tubs. Keep in mind that clutches take appx 55-60 days (2MO) to pip, so in reality, you could incubate 2-4 clutches a month. By the end of month #2, first clutch is set to come out and you can add another clutch. Of course, if you're expecting 12-16-20 clutches and they all happen to drop in a 1mo period..lol...you'll need a bigger incubator or a 2nd...lol I've hatched everything in there from Geckos, JCP's, Ball Pythons, perfect every time.

This season I plan to build a larger one out of PVC or HDPE to hold 16-20/12qt tubs at a time, unless I find a nice glass front fridge from some closing restaurant nearby.
If you get a new one and want to sell this one, let me know. Remember I am in Miami so we are not far from each other.

Purchase or build a quaility incubator. Don't bother with one of them hovabators. Use an old up right refrigerator or mini fridgerator or even a good size cooler will work, run some flextwatt on the inside, wire a computer fan (go to radio shack) for a circulation. Hook ur flexwatt up to a T-stat, put the prob for the t-stat INSIDE the egg incubating tub, set temp and check periodically. Wheew out of breath.lol
    Best off luck
