  • I can't seem to figure it out!!!!!!!!!!!1

I have two het snow boas. Of course a male and female. I know I have a probability of producing a snow. However I have come to the understanding that even with het snows It is still not as likely as I would like to actually get a snow. Can someone direct me to where I can find some in depth info about genetics. And please let me know why it is going to be more unlikely to produce snows that probability says.

The reason the chances are reduced is because of the extra genetic information from the normal side of those boas. If you were to breed a Snow to one of your hets your chances are greater because you are simply adding more of what you want. If you cross two Snows together you would only get snows and albinos. I think that is what the link posted was meant to explain but it didn't work for me.

          Courtesy of Advanced Genetics Wizard

          Het. Albino, Het. Anery,
          x
          Het. Albino, Het. Anery,

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

          6.25% WT
          12.5% Het. Anery,
          6.25% Homozygous Anery,
          12.5% Het. Albino,
          25% Het. Albino, Het. Anery,
          12.5% Het. Albino, Homozygous Anery,
          6.25% Homozygous Albino,
          12.5% Homozygous Albino, Het. Anery,
          6.25% Homozygous Albino, Homozygous Anery,

These odds represent the odds of EACH BOA in litter showing a certain outcome. Each baby boa you produce from this pairing has a 6.25% chance of being a snow.

Here are the results if you get one snake that is Albino het Anery:

            Homozygous Albino, Het. Anery,
            x
            Het. Albino, Het. Anery,

            --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

            12.5% Het. Albino,
            25% Het. Albino, Het. Anery,
            12.5% Het. Albino, Homozygous Anery,
            12.5% Homozygous Albino,
            25% Homozygous Albino, Het. Anery,
            12.5% Homozygous Albino, Homozygous Anery

Here are the results of another possible pairing that wouldn't be too expensive:

            Homozygous Albino, Het. Anery,
            x
            Het. Albino, Homozygous Anery,

            --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

            25% Het. Albino, Het. Anery,
            25% Het. Albino, Homozygous Anery,
            25% Homozygous Albino, Het. Anery,
            25% Homozygous Albino, Homozygous Anery

I think the best chance you can have of producing a snow without actually buying a snow is 25%.

            Good luck!
