I've never "cooled" my boas, so I don't know how the cooling process is done.

I do know that my boas prefer to be kept warmer for breeding purposes. The weather seems to have more affect on my breeding boas than anything else. The rainy season in Fall seems to start the process. If we have a lot of rain, the boas will breed earlier in the season. Last year, my boas wanted to start breeding in August. This year, the rain was a little later, so they didn't start breeding until early Oct.

Since you cooled your boa, I'm guessing you're not feeding her. I normally go by the feeding or refusal of food to determine if my boas are getting close to ovulation.

"All" of my female will stop eating after they've had a pre-ov swell. They won't eat again until after ovulation. With my boas, once they've refused food, I know I can expect an ovulation within "1 to 3 weeks". Last year I had a girl that skipped the refusal of food and went straight to ovulation. She ovulated 11 days after the introduction of the male.

So, you really need to watch your boa. Pay close attention to her "body language". If this is your first time breeding boas, you may miss some of the "signs" to look for. I wish I could tell you what signs to look for, but it can be different for each boa. They're not all predictable and they don't all ovulate the same way.

Some will have a single "massive" swelling. Some will have two smaller swellings. Some won't have much of a swelling at all. Some will simply be very active arching their body to move the ova where it should be. This arching can go on for 1 hour to several hours.

So, just keep an eye on your female. Keep an eye on the male too. Sometimes the male can let you know if your girl is getting ready to ovulate. The male "normally" loses interest about 2 or 3 days prior to ovulation. Of course, you can't always go by what the male does or doesn't do. Sometimes a male will continue to breed before/during/and after the ovulation.

Anyway, there's no easy answers. It's all a matter of experience. You can gain a lot of knowlege and experience by watching your boas carefully. Take notes of "any" behavior that out of the normal. Sometimes your notes won't make sense until "after the fact". Like after she's giving birth. Then you can look back at your notes and think..."So that's what that was".

I realize I haven't been much help, but the whole cooling thing throws me off my game. It's hard to say how a female will react from cooling, so I really can't offer much info for a boa that's cooled. Sorry.
