I have been reading up on the fetal dopplers lately being used to confirm gravid females mainly on this forum. After pulling my hair for 10 weeks confused if what I had seen was ovulation and wondering if my female was indeed gravid or not I had to find a way to confirm my thoughts. I realized that Ultrasound machines were out of my reach financially.
I had read a few posts here and there of a boa breeder, and long time member here Linda D having great success since 2004 with this technology.
I read up on all the info I could find and made my purchase off ebay. I was like an impatient child all week checking the tracking number repeatedly and watching for the mail man.
Finally a couple days ago it arrived. I ripped open the packaging, stole the closest batteries and quietly opened the females enclosure.
Here were the results.
YouTube - Future Baby Boas!!!!
I managed to confirm beats in 3 spots before the female nudged me just as my cornsnakes had done in the past when removing eggs, letting me know my presence was not appreciated. I'm gonna leave her alone. I'm sure she still has 45 odd days to go if I calculate from the shed or 10 days if I go off the first large swelling I noticed which was possibly a pre-ov.
The results made my day and I think you will be fascinated by the whooshing cold blooded heartbeat.
Thanks again Linda
