I just posted pictures off them and their Mom on the
(The Boa Constrictor Pictures) on the Forum.
Take a look and tell me what do you think.
The Mom didn't allow me to take a picture of the Dad.

          Re: New Born's

I know that I had a big loss, but this was my first time breeding
There were so much things that I did wrong, Next year will be
better! I kept a close record of what happend, so I'll know what to do better for next year!!

Record keeping is as inportant as fresh water every 2 days.

          Tx for all the advice.

sometimes it just happens you can keep perfect records and do all the right things and still have the same outcome. Have you washed out the cage real well? If the mother can still smell the babies than she is still going to try and protect them even when thier not there.

              Hey Josh

She is still in the cage where she had given birth-I had it with a towl at the bottom and the towl covered with news paper.
She had her babies on the news paper so I only had to take out the news paper,She only gave me enough time to take out the babies, then she started snapping at me. I desided to leave her there untill she is more relaxed. But now I see why she is still so agro. What do you segest I do now.

You see what I mean with '' I made a lot of mistakes''

                Re: New Born's

I would remaove her from the enclosure and wash it out real good with bleach and water be shure you wash rinse all the bleach out and let it dry then it should be okay for her to go back in.
Have you tried to feed her yet?

                    Re: New Born's

If you dont have a snake hook try to use a yard stick or somthing long and keep the boas head away from you as much as possible pick her up on the lower half of her body maby wear some gloves. Try and stay calm as much as possible dont make any jerking moves your snake is vey stressed right now. Good luck.

CONGRATS on the babies Stretch !!

                        Now as for your commentary..
I know that I had a big loss, but this was my first time breeding
There were so much things that I did wrong, Next year will be
better! I kept a close record of what happend, so I'll know what to do better for next year!!
First off. NICE pics in the other post of the mom and babies.
This is just my opinion on the breeding and the resultive loss on some of the babies btw..
The mom looks to be NOT of a great girth for a breeder [ YES..I realize that she just birthed, but I am also taking into account her generalized sizing that she is exhibiting and most likely had previous to being bred also. [Here's where you will most likely find Clay and I agreeing to disagree btw hehe] I think that if the snake/mom were of a larger sizing.. both length and girth/weight prior to breeding that her babies would not have had the stillborns/slug associated in the birthing at all. Ie.. IMO she is too small to be breeding and producing clutches that are large in size and healthy. That is why you lost so many of them. Basically her body could not support all of them is what happened.
I find in BCI's that when the mom is larger..like in the 8'+ range and has a good girth and weight going.. that breeding is much more postively resultive in the babies. Like I said though.. that IMO ;D Oh and also my experience too.
Now as far as your comment about the changes you will do in breeding her next year. I highly suggest that you let her have a year off from breeding in order "rehab" her to full health before the next breeding attempt is made. You wouldn't want to "breed her into the ground" would you ? Jeopardizing her health is not worth being able to breed her every year IMO. She needs adequate time in order to place weight back on and such. Also a female snake that goes through gravidity is under a lot of stress and could have health compromisations from such being done too foten also. Again..just my opinion... take it as you want... ;D
