Went to the pet store today and fell in love....the only problem is the person I talked to told me it was Argentine Boa and then said it was a Hondoran Boa!! I am very confused and want to make sure I know exactly what it is I'm getting here!! I tried looking on the 'net but no luck....

Can anyone tell me anything about these boas, maybe something I've overlooked in my search ...any help would be appreciated so I can figure out what she is.

Hello Angelina,

Well without seeing the boa it would be hard to say what kind it is..

Just some things to consider.. If they are true pure breeds, for a Hondoran you can expect to pay $500 up.. And Hondorans don't get that big.. If I remember correct they reach about 5 foot as an adult.. As for Argentine boas, they get about the same size as a Columbian boa.

The problem with each of these types, is chances are they are not pure breeds in a pet shop.. The gene pool has been mixed so much that unless you grab them from the wild or from a 100% reliable breeder, its a risky purchace..

Thanks for the info....I found out a few min ago that she is definately an Argentiine boa, finally talked to someone in the store who could tell me I was starting to get worried there. Thanks for all your help.

Just remember Argentinian boas can be very nippy. And they can also be a slight headache with some of them to keep them on feed..

hey one more question for ya....I forgot to ask :-[ how much do they normally sell for? Just want to make sure I'm getting a good deal. Going to be getting her real soon... You don't EVEN know the amount of buttkissing I had to do to talk my hubby into another snake!!LOL ;D
