Is It Kahl Or Sharp??

Ok guys I need your help. This is my male albino and the guy I bought him from didn't know if it is a Kahl or Sharp albino. Judging from the pics can any of you morph experts tell what strain he is? He just shed today. I took some shots with flash and some without. Thanks for the help.

I would just about guarantee that its a kahl. They are much more common. The Sharps are a bit more expensive so he would known if it was a Sharp

Im the wrong guy to be answering because Im not too good yet but Im working on it. To me it looks like a Kahl. I think the Sharp albinos retail more color...i think.

That's what I mostly get is that he is Kahl. The guy I bought him from was not aware of the Sharp/Kahl strains so even if they told him what it was he probably didn't understand or remember. He just bought him as a pet nothing else. I wish there was a way I could know for sure.

Even if he bought him as a pet he would know just due to the price of the Sharps. 99.9% of the time when someone calls a boa just an albino it is a kahl. There are alot more of them out there. The only real way to tell is to breed him which can open up a whole other can of worms if you breed to the wrong strain.

What would you get breeding a kahl to a Sharp successfully? I've heard that you get normal looking animals 50% het Kahl and 50% het Sharp.

What would you get breeding a kahl to a Sharp successfully? I've heard that you get normal looking animals 50% het Kahl and 50% het Sharp.

If you breed a Sharp strain albino to a Kahl strain albino you would get all normals that are 100% het. for Sharp AND 100% het. for Kahl, but no albinos.

It doesn't really look like a T+ albino, and that's the only other form I know of. For a new form of amelanism to pop up as someone's pet would be really rare. And, in my opinion it looks like a Kahl albino. So, if it looks like a horse and acts like a horse...

Kahl and Sharp are two different genetic traits that are both a form of amelanism (albino). They reside in different locations on the DNA strand, which is why when you breed them you don't get any albinos. You only get hets.

i say kahl it the person would have know if it was sharp

if you look at binos for sale kahls are listed at albinos and sharps are almost always listed at SHARP albino

ok, how would the normals be 100% het for both Sharp and Kahl? Or what would you get an albino from normal het albino Sharp x normal het albino Kahl?

Breeding Homozygous recessive traits to normal results in all babies looking
normal but carrying the recessive trait

In this case Sharp Albino X Kahl Albino- 2 different ( not compatible ) recessive traits at play

All babies will look normal but carry 1 kahl albino gene and 1 Sharp albino gene

Pairing two Albino types Kahl Bred to Sharp is highly frowned upon by 99% of the Boa breeding community.

Breeding them together would many many problems I don't want to list all
of the potential problems but basically it would make a mess

No one would ever be certain again what type Albino they actually are
getting is it a Kahl or is it a Sharp ??
