• Please help me identify this morph

Just got this snake and was curious what morph she looks like. I thinking she is just a Salmon but I did think she looks a lot like a jungle and a lot like an orangasm I'm not great with morphs so some help would be great! Thanks.

First of all the Salmon and Orangasm are specific lines so unless you know the breeding of this snake which I know you don't, you can't with good conscience call her either.

She looks to me like a regular hypo BCI with a terrible nose rub or abscess. I read the other thread so it is not surprising.

The face shot from the side. 2nd to last pic. Her nose looks swollen.

I thought the same thing zamora and Pandorasdad but then I realized he is holding the snake by the neck. I think the way he is holding the snake is putting pressure on the face some. I assume this is a very aggressive boa.

Ah okay. Yea her nose was a little swollen because she struck at me when I was about to open the boaphile and pretty hard at that. She has tagged me twice in the few days I've had her and I only took her out to get a few quick pics. If anyone has any advice on calming her down that would be great. She isn't food or cage aggressive just aggressive in general. They guy I got her from only had her a short time and he got her after witnessing someone about to throw her in a dumpster. I am with a rescue out here in VA. The only thing I've done so far is put a shirt of mine in there with her so maybe she will get used to my smell.

My best suggestion is to leave her totally alone for at least a couple of weeks, she obviously has been through the wringer and I don't blame her for being aggressive, wouldn't you be with the same history? Clean only when absolutely necessary, change water and feed when needed but leave her alone, make sure she has a hide or a dark part of the enclosure where she can feel secure. When it's time to get her out, you can block her face with a piece of cardboard and gently touch her on her body to let her know you are not a food item. Try to touch her in the enclosure after you give her a few weeks alone, I find that blocking the face helps get them used to your touch. I think Star uses a towel over their head. Holding her like you are in the photo makes her aggressive but I understand why you did that if she has been aggressive. I wish you luck with her, she needs some TLC.

Also, I think the question about the swelling has been addressed, I have nothing to add to the other two comments. I hope we see some new pictures from you in the future and you both are a lot happier. Please keep us posted.

There is a good video on here somewhere about handling a snake like yours, I'll try to find it and post the link here.

I'm sorry about saying aggressive when we should actually use the term "defensive".

Here is one video from @BigPaPaErnest :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeCb...ature=youtu.be

When handling a larger boa, like this one pictured, compared to the one in my video...I use the lid to it's tub the snake lives in to rub their head and calm them down while gently grabbing the lower third quarter of their body. I can understand the gloves, but it may be easier to handle it without them...gloves like those don't allow grip like a bare hand. Good luck! and nice Hypo!

That is a great video, I have used that technique since I was 15 yrs old. It's funny he call her a demon, she just bad, she a bad girl LOL... But I have never used gloves for handling. I could never understand that technique that alot of people I know use that or do that while handling snakes or and other animal. I understand why people use gloves for eagles but for a snake. I don't get it at all...

Thanks for all the info guys. And the gloves are because she has already got me twice. Out of all the snakes I've owned, rescued or what have you this is the only snake I've ever had to go buy a snake hook and gloves for!

I have one that made me buy a pair of fireplace gloves to handle him. He has never not tried to bite me when he's gotten the chance.
