  • What Type of Boa???? Help

    Hello all,

I am new to this forum. I really like what I read so far.
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I just added a new snake to my group. Its my first Boa. He was so much different then the normal redtails I see, I just had to get him.. Now here is the problem, well not a big problem, just annoying..LOL

His head looks just like a redtail, he has the pink cheeks and all. His body is very dark, getting jet black further down. the tail is really black. I have looked at pics of Boas all day and couldn't find one image that even looked close to his pattern and color.. Wonder if anyone can help..
I will attach an image or two I just shot, but please keep in mind the camera I used kinda bites and the colors are off, his tail is true black...
    Anybody know?
    Thanks
    Steve Clark

      Hey Steve,
A good place to see different types of Boa Constrictors is this link: www.boa-constrictors.com/com/com.html
Just click your way around the site and you'll have a good intro to different species. b27.gif

        Hi PythonTamer,

Thnaks for the link, it is a very cool site, just couldn't see enough detail in those small images to tell if any were close.. Its driving me nuts not knowing. It my curse for always getting unusal looking snakes. They always catch my eyes...
If anyone has any idea, let me know..
        Thanks Steve Clark

          Hey Steve,

Appears to be a BCI (Central American), or maybe even a cross. It has the coloring of a Central American boa, who tend to be very very dark, almost a dark chocolate brown.

It is hard to determine every time, but I would think CA boa.
To gain knowledge is good, but to share knowledge is wise
