I would be more then happy to show some lighting setups that will help and a few tricks. Two things I love talking about is photography and snakes. So no problems... Set it up when you can Clay and we can see what I can help with..
Hi Steve...
Beautiful snake and beautiful picture. Does he/she have a name? I don't know why, I am into the name thing. I took a bunch of picture's and not one turned out!!!!! I was trying to snap picture's of the "white spots". Guess I will have to try again.
Anyways, is this your common Red Tail Boa? I have one that looks like this one. Jezebel. Very light grey. But the tail is a lot darker. Not very much red at all. Her colors are so much different than my other Red Tail. Hmmmmmm......
That is one of two babies I have not named yet. I took this guy on to sell. Not sure if I am going to or not. I liked him because he is so light and has the oddest rosy cheeks. Looks like he was out in the winter and just came in..LOL
It is a normal Columbian Redtail. He was one of the two snakes that I got that were born on April fool's day. Eats rat pinks like a pig though..
Hey if you having problems with pics, scroll down to the Herp Photography forum. Give all the info you have and ask any questions you might have..
To be honest most of these shots are just spur of the moments ones. I plan as soon as the weather gets better to take all this guys to the studio and do a real shoot with them. Already been looking for branches, etc to shoot on. I plan to blow up a few and hang them, but heven't yet.. I will share some studio ones as soon as I get them done..
If that is just a little impromptu shot, I can only imagine what you can do when you put your mind to it!!
That is truly an INCREDIBLE shot of a really nice boa!
Thanks for the kind words. Now when I plan a shoot for the coldblooded guys, I can get a better setup and better lighting, but lets be honest, its hard as heck to pose a snake and have them stay that way.. But I am working on it..LOL
This is as close to posing as I can get so far.. This one shot is on the back of a music CD. It will be in the store in a month or so.. This is only the raw pic, they added stuff to is.. btw the shot is of one of my first snakes. its a grey banded king.
Steve
Not hard at all.. As long as you start with a good quality larger file, you can reduce the size of the image without changing the 72 resolution.. Hope that helps
