  • Pepper is HERE!

She is finally home, my first little boa. She is a Hypo Jungle Female produced by Zamora. As far as I can tell, she is the sweetest little thing, and to my surprise she was not head shy at all. She would let me touch her head to try and get a good picture, but she was moving everywhere it was almost impossible.

Her instinct to climb is high. I caught her climbing branches exploring the cage. She actually slithered up to me when I was taking pictures. Doesn't seem as scared as I thought she would be like my ball pythons were. Please don't mind the crappy pictures!

She is a lot smaller than I was expecting, probably because pictures aren't the greatest.

THANK YOU ZAMORA! She will be loved greatly as a pet

Thanks guys, I can honestly say she is already more inquisitive than I expected. I am glad I have climbing branches, she is all over them.

She has been soaking up the heat. I think she is trying to find a good sleeping spot to call her own. Cant wait to start handling her in the next couple of days.

I'm just pleased as punch you are happy with her. I know size is difficult to capture in pictures but trust me, she is a really good size for her age. I also love the fact that she is exploring her cage. She has been on paper towels since she was born and other than photo shoots and being handled, she hasn't had much exposure to different textures, she is clearly 'enjoying' all the new space and 'toys'. Congratulations and thanks again for choosing to buy her from me.

              Re: Pepper is HERE!

I checked up on her this morning and I can say she must be enjoying the bedding because it was pushed around everywhere this morning. I look around, and see her little head poking up looking over a log. So cute.

I must say, I am more than pleased with her. Cant wait to start "bonding" with her.

Side Note* I love how she is "missing" a saddle on the upper half of her body. You can see it in the second picture.

I am excited to watch her grow and change, but I will be sure to enjoy the little thing she is now. I am not sure how old or large the parents are, but when people ask how big these snakes get I tell them she has a possibility of reaching 9 feet in the span of her life. They just look at me in disbelief. No one else I know personally has an interest in reptiles like I do.

That's what is SO nice about having a forum like this to share our passion as well as observations & questions. But keep 'working' (gently) on those you know...starting with a small (less 'scary'?) boa just might get thru
to a few more people with any luck. After all, WE "caught it" from somewhere too???

Its not so much them being scared of snakes. It is them thinking I am crazy for loving them like I (and we all) do. My boyfriend held Pepper for two seconds before he gave me a look that read, "Okay..? I want to go eat now." Many people don't understand, and will never understand our love for reptiles.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. It was a short wait for a long term pet, well worth it. I just can't get over how small and cute she is. Her head is like the size of a quarter. These pictures make everything look so much bigger.

Mom is approximately 5 feet give or take and Dad was about four feet. Both slow grown adults at 7 years of age when they were bred. I don't have any pictures of Dad as an adult with anything for size reference but I'm planning a photo shoot after the cruise and I'll be sure to get some up to date pictures of Mom, she's just awesome.
