    And the local find , while trail running on one of our more challenging mountain trails. Highlight of the run. This is a Northern Ringneck snake . I've only seen one other in our region, but I used to catch these as a kid , down in Southern Oregon (a few hours south). These are mildly venomous, but they can't penetrate our skin - supposedly ...

          The ringneck is a beauty! I'm not sure if they can or can't penetrate skin. I think you need to take a bite. Ya know, for science.

          Those are some sweet boas too!

            As always, the boas are awesome. That ringneck is super neat. I wanted to get one not too long ago but I tend to stray away from the smaller snakes, so I ended up with my first boa (and I am very happy I did)

              Awesome pics! That CA hypo motley is outstanding!

              I haven't seen any ringneck snakes yet this year, I usually start running into more of them late August/September. They're such cool little snakes!
