  • Project Update: 62.5% BCC Het Sharp Albinos

Hey Guys! Just wanted to share an update of one of my favorite projects incorporating more BCC blood into the sharp albino mutation. The end goal is a very BCC looking sharp albino and I think we're getting close! I have at least 4 separate bloodlines of Surinames on hand to plug into this project. The first pairing moving towards this goal was done by my good friend, whom I acquired the entire litter (and parents) from. I held back the best 6.

Here's mom, "Squeezer", a super clean and strong Suriname produced by Matt Pope:

Here's dad, "Blaze", an incredible 25% BCC Sharp Albino produced by Mike @ Basically Boas:

Here's two recent photos of their sons, "Harry" and "Ron", the best two in the litter:

The other 4 I still have from that litter are outstanding as well, those two above are just my personal favorites.

This upcoming season I'm introducing a new bloodline to make a separate line of 62.5% hets to cross back into these guys to produce a visual 62.5% Sharp Albino. Here's the parents for that pairing,

Mom, "Galadriel", a 25% BCC Sharp Albino produced by Mike @ Basically Boas:

Dad, "Panther", a Suriname produced by Barry Miller:

Panther is one of the best Surinames I've ever seen in person. As a baby he was dripping with pink. I had never seen a locality animal like him. Could be a very nice litter that potentially exceeds the first! Can't wait!

Let me start off by saying these boas are absolutely stunning! I do not know much about breeding boas as my experience is solely based on reading and not "real life" experiences. Im not sure how I feel about crossing BCC's and BCI's, guess I should do more research on that topic!

I can also say that I have always loved how pronounced BCC head markings are and it looks awesome on those BCC albinos! I mean, look at "Blazes" face! The flags are so saturated with color, absolutely stunning. And the orange is held much better on their tails

Thank you for sharing. Looks like I will be doing more research on this topic to see what its all about

Dang, that Blaze is just incredible. Of course, they all are but I just keep drooling over him. Thanks for the pics.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Some purists certainly do shun the idea of cross breeding. As long as there are adequate wild and captive populations of a locality/subspecies and they are properly labeled I personally have no issue with it. I do have many pure projects in addition to this one which may help offset some judgement from the purists .
