  • Buddy the boa

I have just bought my first baby boa. Yes, I did name a boa Buddy because I'm not creative.

After a couple of hours he wasn't so scared. And he is going blue.

When I first helped him out of the bag.

I am charging up my DSLR camera and I'll take pictures when he isn't so scared. I am covering up the majority of the front of the cage until feels safer.

Even in blue he is a beautiful Buddy! It's actually good timing for him to be in blue...so you aren't tempted to feed or handle him, & it gives him time to "lay low". Usually when a snake comes out of a shed, they
are looking for food too...it should work to your advantage.

He is adorable and the name is just fine. I don't think he gives a shed.

Have no clue what he is up to.

                He is so tiny!

Yes, I did file down the edges of the PVC so they aren't sharp. I also wrapped it with cotton string for texture he can grip.

Do boas drink? I caught Buddy drinking. (I posted the question in case anyone searches for it they can find a video.)

Nice pictures and neat video. I can never catch my girl drinking, she always stops and stares at me until I leave haha.

He is so cute and small! Congrats.

                            Re: Buddy the boa

I had just finished handling him and I put him away and changed his water. I had started watching youtube again and I just turned around after 10 minutes or so to check on him and I saw him drinking. Hopefully that means he is going to go blue soon.

                            Thank you.

Of course they drink! but more than one has ended up in A.A. so make sure it's only water. (ha ha ha)
And that last picture in post #8: he's making sure he exercises so he doesn't get a double-chin...even snakes get teased about that!
                              P.S. I love his coloration!
