Hog Island :)

So, this is my hog island female, Eve. She was born in early 2013.







Right now she is doing just fine in a 28 quart tub, but I think I'm going to upgrade to a 4'x2' cage soon--would that be a good final cage size for her?

Also, is she at a healthy size for her age? I'm feeding her on the same schedule as my bp's (weekly), skipping a meal for her every once in a while, and feeding her weaned rats (~35-40g each). She can definitely eat more, but I'm feeding smaller since I'm feeding her more often than I should. I might go to small rats every other week though.

She's very pretty, and looks to be healthy and perfect size for her age. A 4X2 cage will be plenty for her.

I love my Hog Island. He is beautiful, eats like a champ and, generally, easy to handle (just leave him alone when shedding - only time he hisses at me).

I wonder how big she is going to get. I definitely got a hog island because my wife doesn't want a huge snake, but I got a boa because I wanted something more interactive/larger than a ball python lol. I might look into actually building her an enclosure, that way I can make it 2ft high without paying an arm and a leg for it.

I believe they can get 5-6 foot long depending on gender and how much you feed and about 10 pounds. I could be wrong.

Yeah, I was expecting ~6ft since she is a female. Didn't think about 10 lbs of weight though! :P Then again, that's a bit over 4000g, which some bp's get to...

Love the hog island I almost got one but I got a dream deal on a Suriname redtail bcc that I couldn't pass
First off don't make a enclosure unless you know what your doing you'll spend the same money on good materials as if you brought a plastic one
Second length wise hogs are drwafs but unless you know the blood line or came from great breader there's a slight chance it can be crossed with something from the boa family thus making a slightly larger snake. But remember too it's all on how you feed spreade the meals out a bit slower growing snake long life
