Proving out possible hets!

How often do you guys prove out possible het boas? I picked up a ghost 66% poss het albino female in hopes of making moonglows once she reaches breeding size/age. I'm super nervous that maybe she isn't het though. Although the odds are in my favor (although only slightly!)

So how often have you more experienced breeders proved out poss. hets? My plan is to breed her to a sunglow het anery to make moonglows. If she doesn't prove out then I'll at least have Ghosts 100% albino. But I'm really hoping I can hit moonglow in the first season!

What do you guys have to say about it?

Thanks. I thought she was a great looking ghost as well but that was just my opinion. I hope she stays light but we'll see!

Anyways, if anyone has any experience breeding possible hets I'd love to hear from them! Or if anybody has any suggestions for what to breed her with!

I don't have any suggestions but keep feeding her and good luck...she is exceptionally striking!

That is really all there is to it you are playing the odds.

My sharp snow and snowglow project has poss hets, oh and SunDreams
I got a PD Ghost 66% Sharp and a Sharp 66% anery
Worse case scenario will be double and triple hets
It a gamble and fun part of the hobby for me.

Alright alright, you got me. That was a silly question lol. So then was I at least right in assuming that a sunglow het anery would give me the best chance at 1) proving her out and 2) making moonglows?

I could use another ghost het albino or anery het albino...but then if mine doesn't prove out I'll have possible het albinos. With a visible albino mate, then all the offspring would be at least 100% het albino/anery and 50% hypo. And an albino het anery would give me ghosts 100% het albino. Right? Just trying to plan this all out in my mind!

You are quite correct! A visual albino will almost certainly prove or disprove the poss het. And if it's at least het anery, you're sure to have visual aneries. And since you have a hypo, roughly half of the offspring should also be hypo. So the best case scenario involves ghosts and sunglows and snows and moonglows and all of that good stuff.

You're al least looking at it in the right light. IF she doesn't prove, you've still got a pretty cool litter on your hands, and it will take a little more time to make what you want. Either way, good luck to you!
