    Never used vita-spray
but I use spring water... Most of the people here are in denial about tap water being crappy for you... So that is what most of the people use.. I would check you area for the way they treat there water...

They do not drink water treated with chlorine and flouride in the wild. I believe that spring water is probably best for them.

i belive that normal tap water is just fine for your boa.

boas in the wild dont hunt and search for a nice clean spring to drink out of it going to drink whatever water it can find

I never have heard of a snake dying by drinking tap water

        my 2 cents

          Hello Gun Lover

          And Welcome to the forums..

I know people may disagree, but I use regular tap water. Although I am located in upsate NY and have good well water, I have never had a problem. Like state below, boas in the wild drink from any available water source, including mud puddles. As along at its safe for human consuption, I don't see any harm.

Now Red said never use vita spray. Red you heard something I don't know? It really helped with that one shed and the makeup of the stuff dosen't have anything I am away would hurt the little guy. It mainly says to put it on from behind the head to the tail. Let me know Red..

Good luck with your boa GunLover.

            Hey Steve,

I think Red was trying to say he never USED vita spray so that he couldn't tell Gun Lover what he thought of it. I could be wrong, that's just the way I read it. As for my two cents worth, I too use tap water, but I live at the foothill of the mountains, so our water is pretty clean. I have never used Vita Spray either, so I can't help you there.

Re:What water to give to a boa ?

i know for sure my tap water here is high in chlorine and not sure about the flouride level. i gave my 1st boa bottled water due to that. and found out later that i bought a sick boa.

on the vita spray. i sprayed my 1st 1 w/ it and it seemed to make her aggressive. then i tryed just using a spray mist of bottled water and she was alot more meower. not sure if its something in it or what.but the herp vets around my area recomed using vita spray becuase it replaces lites and other vitaims.

If you're worried about the electrolyte level and vitamins in your boa, and you don't like the way the Vita Spray is making your snake act, you can also try soaking your boa in Pedialite. It rehydrates and replenishes the electrolytes.

I guess having a blue red-tailed boa would be a bit alarming!! I bet it also looked cool though!! Anyway, let us know if there is anything else we can help you with. There is so much knowledge and experience within this forum that you should find an answer/solution to anything you may come across. Let us know how it goes.

If you can find those pics that would be great. It would be very interesting to see what it looked like.

Re:What water to give to a boa ?

                          HI,
I think its proably more important to change that water and clean the dish out with a paper towel to remove that slime from bacteria growth.
Most chlorine in the water evaporates rather quickly. I'ld worry about not changing it every day and making your boa sick with bacteria growth in the dish from the heat .. I usally check my cages at least twice a day if the waters low somebody was playin in the pool I'll dump and clean. I am not agresive about sterilizing the dish just cleaning out and replacing the water with clean fresh tap water I ve noticed the GUyana only drink that first 10 mins after I change it picky snakes...
                          Doug
if its a really young boa I usally have two water dishes in case he uses one for soaking the water will film over in mins after they play in it.
                          :P

One thing not to argue but you all do know that boas in the wild get sick and die way early in there lifes.. for the most part... and two they do go and search of cleaner water it is just that if in the end all they find is a puddle then so be it... I have read alot about them in the wild... They stay near running water most of the time.... which is cleaner... And I bet you can not go into the wild and find a boa with out digestive tracked problems... May be one in a million...
If you have well water you have spring water... so that is probley good... can be a bit high in iron but thats fine...
                              Well see ya all..
