    Re: feeding

Lets not forget my one Blue beauty. Its abit bigger then a golf ball and whomps down rats almost as thick as soft balls... All depends on the snake. I know everything I have read on even boas that in the wild they will slam something twice as big as them. And like Slither said retic can eat alot bigger. I seen one special on some channel that showed a 22 foot retic swallowing a 80 pound deer with a full rack. It really was amazing.. But if you stick to the girth size, your fine. My Dark boa is about 6'8"'s and eats 2 rats abit bigger then its girth every 10 days to two weeks..

    Good luck
    Steve

As a general rule of thumb, your prey should be NO bigger than the largest girth area of your snake.
    Unless it's a retic!

I agree with what has been said. He should be fine eating that size prey and try to stick with the girth rule. A touch bigger than their girth is fine as well, just keep in mind that boas have a problem keeping prey down that is too big, although this statement does depend on the individual snake. From my experience (and this is by no means law), pythons can hold down larger prey than boas.

    Re: feeding

I have to agree with both Tat and Red. First I would switch to F/T rats, they are healthier for your snake. Second, just like Red said, if they can eat two of anything, you should switch to only one of the next size prey. My baby boa is 22 inches and is almost ready to go to fuzzy rats. As a general rule of thumb, your prey should be NO bigger than the largest girth area of your snake. Hope this helps.

If the snake can eat two then you can make the next step up in size of prey... Like if you are feeding pinkys and find that one is not enuf and you start feeding two then you can feed one fuzzy... and so on and so forth...

yOU CAN FIND OUT MORE INFO ON FEEDING IN THE CARE SHEETS. I WOULD SAY YOU SHOULD BE FINE, BUT I WOULD SWITCH TO F/T RATS MUCH BETTER FOR YOUR SNAKES.
