  • shedding problem

I've had my boa for a little over a month now, and this is the first the he's shed. The problem is his body is done but the skin on his head has not come off. I've tried soaking him in warm water, but he won't let me touch his head for long enough to peel off the skin. Is it a problem to worry about or should I just wait it out till the next time he shedds?

has your boa shed off the eye caps? if he hasn't you really need to remove the unshed eye caps to prevent infection. let us know

I think it has but i could be wrong. Would his eyes look dull or darker, or would they look the same??

        Re: shedding problem

His eyes would look like they actually have a scale on them, it is very noticeable. At least this has been the case with my snakes. Continue to soak him, you may want to try putting a little more water than normal so that his head has a better chance of being soaked. How long have you left him in to soak? What has been the temperature of the water you are using to soak him in. I usually get mine on the warmer side of 80-85 degrees and my snakes love it. I will also leave them in there for close to 30 minutes. As Damian mentioned, you want to make sure the eye caps come off to prevent infection, even the rest of the skin on his head needs to come off. It's not something that you can wait for until the next shed cycle. Let us know how it goes.
