  • Clay..a question for you about color

Lately, I've noticed that the little girl I got from you has been exhibiting a pinkish/salmon coloration. It is noticable between her saddles and on her underbelly. I was wondering if any of the others from this clutch (5/15/2002) have been exhibiting the same thing?

She is about half way between shed cycles and I mention this only because I have noticed it on her before, just after a shed.

I would've posted a pic but my cam was set at hi rez and the file is well of 100k.

    Thanks!

The pinkish salmon color is common among baby boas. It seems to fade away as they get older, but I've seen cases where the color tends to stay.

There is pastel in the bloodline of your boa's parents. Although she may not have all the attributes to classify it as a pastel, the babies from that litter definately had a lot of color. It should come out more and more duing the early part of life.

There are others from the same litter that have also shown a lot of color.

I've been pondering the same thing as well. My juvenile that I picked up from the Bristol show is very pink.

Gee, I'm glad I asked a question that so many were wondering about. It just goes to show...if you don't ask, you'll never learn.

The high pink I picked up last year gets more pink every time he sheds. I just wish I could get it to really show through in pics. :/

hi, i just got a BCI hatchling from California. He has pink on his sides, and I really like his coloration. So, when he further develops will he become less colorful? Also, he is somewhat dark colored, will he ever lighten up, thanks.
