  • growth question

ok i was feeding my lil baby today Dusty hes a yearling of course and already has a big boy head but i noticed today that the very back of his head is getting bigger wider actually and the small rat i gave him in which in the last 2 feeding has been slowly dissappearing. so im ordering him some med rats but what i was wondering is how old do they start to grow again like that, is it closer to the age of 2 or maybe 18 months or what. i dont know how old he is exactly so im hoping that if i can figure out how old they are when they start to grown again ill have a good guess.

also my other baby if the age guess is close he will either be 1 year old in august and still hasnt gotten his big 1 yr old boy head yet? when do they start to get their larger head when they are babies?? its kinda exciting that they are growing, but then again i love having them small.

    Hey girl.......

I don't have any answer's but just wanted you to know that I have the same problem with mine. I have no idea how old my 6 1/2 foot RTB is. She is so girthy too. I wish I knew......... Sometime's it just bugs me! > Steve gave me kind of a guess of 4-5 year's which would make sence since my 4 1/2 footer is 2 1/2 years's old. (about half of my other's size) Guess I will never know....... Good luck!

      Re:growth question

      Hey redtailedmel,

There is no real way to be sure of age based on the boas size, or a growth spurt. Every boa is different. I have seen some boas do 90% of their growing the first three years, and I have also seen a boa that stayed small the first two years, we thought it was a dwarf of some kind, by year three it kicked into high gear on growing and went from 29 inches to 6 foot from year 3 to year 4+.. Just like kids, they all grow at their own rate..

      Sorry i couldn't help more..

There's no real way of knowing how to determine the age of your snake unless you know for sure exactly when it was born. I myself like to know the birth dates of my snakes. You can guess and it may be kind of accurate and it may not. Like Steve said, all snakes grow depending on many different factors.
