    Hi,
This gonna proably tick you off but I wouldn't put a snake in a tank.. I would go to the boaphile web page and order one of his smaller cages with heat installed and buy a thermostat and your done, I use a simple thermostat that they sell at big apple around 29.00 bucks.
The boaphile cage wil provide heat and humidity and will be the perfect cage for a boa. You will not have feeding problems or shed problems.

Your snake is gonna cost you money when they are eating jumbo rats and or rabbits the can get rather big rather quickly.
so go ahead and buy a good cage you can proably use for a few years. a 20 gal is going to be small very fast if he lives thru acclimation problems that can occur during that learning curve in a fish tank.

I agree with Doug on this. Even the 20g will only last you a very short time.

You can make a cage out of melamane that costs about 100 dollars for the meterals And labor if you know sobody that is handy with tools... if you can use power tools then you can make one for like 80 bucks.... then you need a heating devise and you are good... This could cost as lil' as 150 (total cost) bucks if you do it right... You can make it just like a boaphile and then work your way up to owning a real boa phile cage... they took about half of the work out of keeping my cage at the right temp, humidity and clean...
          Eric aka....Red
Here are some pics of cages people have built.. alot of the time people will tell you how much it cost them just give them a IM..
