Re:rusty the cobra lmao
Sounds like your snake is pretty agitated - some people think that hitting ("bonking"the snake in the face with the prey item prompts a feeding response, but Ive never seen it work and dont recommend it. I used to have a picky Ball Python and a Dumeril's that had very strange eating habits, and I lightly tapped them on a couple occasions to no avail - it just made them more upset. I say if your snake is a healthy eater, and it repeatedly strikes and hisses in self defense - its probably not hungry.
lol - good luckComment

Re:rusty the cobra lmao
Chambers, doing such as redtailedel described does result in a feeding response. This method has worked many times with boas. However, you are also right by some degree. If you try this with a ball python, it's just going to scare it. Though with boas, it just agitates them and they usually strike. Most of the times I've seen this method work as been with boas, specifically BCIs. I'm pretty sure there is more snakes like the ball pythons that using this method will just scare them and add stress.Comment

Re:rusty the cobra lmao
i thaw my rats in a zip lock baggie so i dont have any scent on my hands and of course washing after i think he doesnt get a good smell off the rat to think its food. dusty my little piggy doesnt care how i thaw the rat he will eat no matter what i read clays guide again looking for any tips and i think for him i am going to just place the rat straight in the water maybe it will smell better to him and he will eat. i am giving him a day or so to really be calm and im going to try feeding him again. for some reason i think he is trying to get me to give in and give him a live yummy which aint happening!!! hes been eating thawed for a while and since i started using the baggies i have had this problem with him so hopefully if i go back to no baggie he will quit acting a fool. hehe it was rather funny though. i would look down at him and say oh your just bluffing and he would quit hissing and start looking at me like take me out mom. after he quieted down i just picked him right up lol he thinks hes such a big boy lol!!!Comment

Hey the ole bump in the nose trick is one of the best tricks to get finicky eaters started. I have used this technique numerous times with baby hogg island boas.
All I want to know is when does DUSTY get to eat.To gain knowledge is good, but to share knowledge is wise
