CAN A BABY RED TAIL BE HOUSED WITH A 7 MONTH RED TAIL? wHAT COULD HAPPENED? I DO NOT USUALLY PURCHASE MY SNAKES FROM A PET STOR BUT I SAW A VERY TINY RED TAIL THAT MIGHT NEED ATTENTION. PET STORES SHOULD REALLY PAY ATTENTION TO THE CARE OF THERE ANIMALS. UNBELIEVABLE NEGLECT I SEE IN A COUPLE OF PET STORES IN MY AREA. FEEL FREE TO EMAIL

You can but I would not house one in a cage with another for quit a while after getting the new snake... Make sure that it is healthy and has no problems health wise.... Also you should be warned that if one gets a cold the other will probley get it as well that means two snakes on oral antibiotics and not one.... Dont feed them together and you should be fine..../

Hey, I have a 6 month ArgentinexRTB and 9 month old RTB together in a 75 gallon. They are both females and get along great! Just like Red said, don't feed them together and they will be fine. Pretty much all day they sleep together in their rock cave. I haven't had any problems yet (crossed fingers), and I don't think I should. The 9 month old has been in the 75 since I got her (8months ago) and I just put the 6 month old in with her in January. Good luck and hope I could help.

I have snakes housed together with no problem, but I ALWAYS observe a strict 6 mo. minimum quarentine, even if it's a snake I know. I clean the feeding tub between feeding snakes, and clean my hands between handling the different ones.

Just another thought on this subject. When you see sick snakes in poor health in pet stores the last thing you should do is buy it. You purchasing that snake tells the pet store that they made the right decision in purchasing those wholesale pet trade wild caught unhealthy snakes and they also think they did a fine job taking care of the snakes while it was in their possession since someone bought it. It then opens up the spot and encourages the store to buy more and treat them the exact same way.

I know it sucks seeing pet stores that don't take care of their animals, but you can't rescue them all and buying them just encourages them to continue. If you don't buy them then they don't sell their crap and they don't continue to purchase more of it. So by NOT buying from pet stores like this it helps them more than buying the sick snakes.

Speak to the manager/owner of the store and explain what they are doing wrong, etc. in a mature way and see if it does any good.

          Just my opinion.
