Of course when I get my boa, I will want to make sure everything perfect. The only difficulty I have ever had with my Ball is keeping the humidity above 50%. They should have 60-70%, so come shed time I have to soak him for an hour every day. What would be the best way to keep a good humidity level? I understand that boas need at least 50%.

Re:Humidity
First off what kind of cage is it? Glass? Wood? if it is glass take a damp towel and cover half of the top of the tank and that will help hold the humidity in the tank. You can also put damp paper towels in the cage as well to help the humidity not to wet though as belly rot could occur if it is too wet just wring out the paper towel pretty good and place it in the tank that is what i do in my 40 gallon breeder as well as the towel trick.
HOPE THIS HELPS.
maybe steve and clay and some others can help.

Re:Humidity
Hey ToFu,
I think Lee gave the best suggestion along with Beths suggestion.. Some addional things to try..
Put the water dish directly over the Under the tank heater.
Get a clay pot and soak the clay pot for about 45 mins and then put in the tank.
Just remember in your quest to increse the humidity, do let things like bedding get too wet for too long, or you will end up with Belly rot or you will start growing mold..
Good luck.. Hope this helps..
Keep us poseted..

Re:Humidity
Whats up tofu. Well, here in michigan it's been rainy and pretty hot so a good "trick of the trade" i've learned is to open the window in my boas room. I keep her in a seperate bedroom, (unfortunately in the same room my computer's in which ain't too cool), and I open the bedroom window and my humidity jumps from a average 54% to like 68-70% and it stays that way all day mostly everyday, especially at night and I can still keep the heat at the correct temps. This may not work for all people considering some can't donate a whole bedroom to your snake or other circumstances, but for the people with snakes in seprate rooms, this works like a charm.

Re:Humidity
Hey Tofu, In my 20g long, where I keep my new suri, I use Lee's idea of putting a damp dish towel over half of the tank- it works like a charm- 55-70% humidity constant. In my 150 gal tank I use an ionic fogger that I bought from Big Apple Herp, with a timer that make a nice rolling fog every couple of hours or so, keeps excellent humidity and doesn't leave everything all wet. Hope this helps. -john-

Re:Humidity
Depending on the size and kind of your enclosure you could install a normal house humidifier inside the enclosure and set it on a timer. This is what I have done with 3 of my visions now. You can also get the fogging type and use a tube to guide it into the vent of the cage but putting these inside work well for me as it is a dry humidity if there is such a thing..LOL.

Re:Humidity
Hey FCF, I just looked at the web site and my receipt, I was wrong , its called the high output ultrasonic fogger, it is a very cool little device. I've seen the pics of your setup, and you could have fog roll from the top to the bottom. That would look pretty neat, because in my tank it rolls from one side to the other and its a great effect, and it works. -john-
