      Re: after shedding

I have to say I hold my snakes the day of shed... but I don't hold my snakes while they are in shed... I have never had a bad reaction... I have herd that you should wait for a couple days... There is nothing but humidity that you should put in the cage... I raise the humidity to around 70% but that is all I do...

well, just make sure he has a couple of hides, and a water bowl big enough for him to get his body into. and his humidity is fine. keeping it high during shed will help. as for it bieng at 70% most of the time should be ok

70 ok if you want to lower it... Just heat the room a bit with a space heater... That will most of the time lower the humidity...

Ya that is the only problem... I had to sleep in my snake room once...

I don't think there is anything in granite that says "NEVER hold a boa the day it sheds"

It may however make sense to allow a certain amount of time for the stress of the event to pass. This could just be a few hours.

I have held many many babies the day of the shed without problem, and the time after shedding is a period where a lot of boas hunt for food because they are pretty secluded or hidden, so they are not in any danger from being held.

Clean hands should be a must here. Wash your hands between handling or before handling any boa..... ;D
