Question about boa basking

Does all of the boa's body (head to tail) have to be on the basking spot for it to benefit from or does it only need to have the midsection (where the rat is) on the basking area?

The reason I ask this is because my boa only has half of his body (midsection to tail) on the hot spot.

Some of mine will do that also. I have never had a problem with them being able to digest their meal from such either. They know what they need/want..so as long as your not getting a regurge or other health problem at all with the snake that could be temp related...Just let him be and do his own thing
