  • [Housing] What about the apogee cages.

Does anyone here have any of those cages. They catch my attention. I like the concept but I wonder how well they would work with boas and even arboreal snakes. Not sure how sturdy they might be as well. If anyone knows anything please let me know. If not I am looking for some cages but don't know where to look any Ideas.

if your talking about the screen cages then i dont recommend them for snakes. if your looking for quality snake caging go with boaphiles everyone here does.

Yeah those are not good for boas. I've used them before for corn snakes. They are okay during the summer when it's hot inside, but once winter comes they make it really hard to hold in heat and humidity. I had to run a space heater and a warm humidifier to keep everything right for the corns. Since boas need warmer temps and higher humidity than corns I would not even attempt using them with boas. A boa might destroy it too, they are strong. Oh and cleaning them sucks. So don't do it! Believe me. You should go with boaphiles.

Thanks you guys. My gut told me that humidity was going to be very hard to keep in there. but when i was reading about them they said you can use the trays to block off all but one side and the top. Thats's mainly the reason why I asked cause I didn't know If that would work, but if they are hard to clean then no way. I am a neat freak for my cages, so no way.

i think boaphiles are more apealing than vision cages but the reptile store i get my supplies and snakes from carrys vision cages so i dont need to pay the extra shipping costs

black looks so much cleaner compared to that ugly granity collar vision cages are

Yeah boaphiles in black look awesome. I don't have any of my own yet, but plan to in the future. Yeah cleaning the screen cages is a pain. The poop gets stuck to the plastic frame and the screen fabric and you have to take it apart and wash the screen fabric in the washer and let it dry and wash the plastic frame with a sponge and let that dry and put it back together and reset up your heat and everything. They would probably be good for like a stick insect.
