Can you use UTH with aspen bedding?

If you have heating pads under the cage, will the aspen keep the heat from getting to the boa or is it better to use che with aspen bedding cage?

I use a CHE for my Boa and he is on aspen bark and it works great, But if you want to use a heating pad it would also work. The aspen WILL NOT stop the heat from getting to the snake, because heat rises.

i also use uth's and che's in my cages that have aspen as the substrate. the uth's have no problem creating a warm spot with aspen as a bedding, in fact all my heating devices are hooked up to a rheostat to prevent them from making the aspen too hot.
