I bought my newest Red tail boa about a month and a half ago. I feed her a good size fuzzy once a week, her temps are 82 cold end... 88 warm end. The humity in the cage ranges from 60 to 70 all day and night never getting below 55. She is a great eater, never had any problems, and is very healthy and fat. But she hasent shed yet! Its the weirdest thing. Her eyes havent become cloudy or nuthing. Its been almost two months since I got her and no shed. I dont know if she shed right before I bought her or what but I know she should have shed by now. Ohh and she doesnt look much bigger than when I bought her, but she eats great. I need to know if some grow slower or what.. please help I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: Is there a problem or not?
Most info that is presented here is on the avg. If you know what I mean.. There is always snakes out there that may be a lil' different... I can't say I have herd of anything that causes the snake to not shed all in its self... Like you said it may have shed right before you got it.. Thay also may have not been feeding it very well (Ie to much or too lil') I think that both of these could cause a lil' later shed.. I would just watch it and see what happens.. I hope somone else has more info on this type of thing...

Re: Is there a problem or not?
Just how old is this snake ? Individuals shed at their own rate anyways...I have babies that shed twice as often as others from the same clutch even. Some going as much as 3 months between sheds even.. and they still grow like the others .. go figure :if the snake was like that when you got it.. it probably had recently shed and therefore would have a greater length of time till the next shed also. Where did you obtain the snake from even ? You should have gotten a record that contained the snake's history..including sheds when you bought it. If someone couldn't tell you when the snake had shed etc.. then find another person to buy from is all.

Re: Is there a problem or not?
I bought the snake from LLL Reptile cause I have bought many reps from them and they have always been the best. The snake was about 18 inches so im guess a newborne. It was the lightest in the clutch so it probably shed right before I got it.

Ok.. Sounds like a newborn to me also. LLL is reputable from what i have heard though. Instead of guessing, why not contact them and ask for the info that you didn't get when you purchased the snake ? They should have it on file I would think even.

Re: Is there a problem or not?
I know for a fact that they dont keep records of there shedding and stuff like that cause I know one of the workers pretty good and she said they have to many reps to keep track of all them. Do you think I should be worried or she will eventually shed? Cause besides the shedding thing she is a perfectly healthy snake.

Update- Still no shed!! Starting to get worried, I think its been close to 3 months since I got her and no shed yet. What is the longest any of you have seen a young snake go without shedding? Oh I measured her tonight and she was between 21 and 24 inches long. Hard to get the exact length.

Re: Is there a problem or not?
The boa I got from Clay went 3 months from its first to second shed and then 2 months from the 2nd shed to the most recent. It is growing at a good rate and eats well.
My first boa used to shed every 4 weeks like clockwork. THey are all individuals. Providing it is eating well and growing, I wouldn't worry.
