  • [Misc] dealing with addiction...lol

okay, so i got my first boa in october after wanting one for about 10 years (ever since i got to handle a 5-6 foot female b.c.i that the girl i worked with was boarding at our store while she moved). i must say i am utterly in love with my boa... i handle him 3-4 times a week (and get all disappointed when i have just fed him and can't)

i have handled and dealt with larger snakes a fair bit, as well as having 4 ball pythons too.

my problem is... i found a beautiful anery male boa on a breeders website, and i am in absolute LOVE. i have no interest in breeding boas, its just a bit much to bite off for me, so i don't mind having two males... i'm pretty much set on getting him... but I don't know if i'm biting off more than i can chew by having two snakes that have 7 foot potential...

i guess i'm just wondering how you folks with more than one large boa deal with all that it entails-- or if you have any advice?

i'm not concerned about feeding or housing... or handling for that matter...

how do you stop yourself from getting more? LOL I need to stop at 2... but do you think its too soon for me to consider getting another baby?

sorry for the schizophrenic post... LOL

As long as you can afford to care for two and have done the proper research then I say go for it.

    And you can't stop!!!!!

They are addicting and most can not stop at just one. As far as handling more then one boa don't. I know what your saying but handling more then one is no different you just handle them seperatly and at different times. Just one more mouth to feed and one more cage to clean. Good luck and tag some pics of the one you are looking at.

sorry, i didn't mean to sound like i was saying 'handle two at once' -- i would still handle each separately, not together...

this is the baby i'm putting a deposit down on.

i am a big fan of really clean, pale snakes... and my god...my jaw hit the table

Hahaha stop you ask? Not sure how that is done. I once bought a corn snake thinking that's all I needed.. haha no.. have 6 snakes now including two recently purchased boas and I want morrrrrreeeee. Yeah as long as you can afford it and properly care for it and no one at home is stopping you... get another one... and so on..

Just make sure you can care for it and that's it......as far as handling it goes..from the pics below they seem young still..and will take a while to get large. So by then it will be a walk in the park...

Worry about caring for them while they are young...by the time they get big youll be able to handle them blind folded...

Just go for it...but in the mean time click the link below and follow the few easy steps...

Or you wont be able to buy the other one

This is great advice I suggest running too. You will not, I repeat will not be able to stop at two My fiance and I had purchased our first boas (the twins) 0.2 het for albino's in July...December 1st I bought the lovely 0.1 Hypo for my fiance, for Christmas, pictured below...and a over the weekend, my fiance told me he bought 0.1 Salmon... And I have to say, what an addiction this has become. We have 4 Boas, and 4 Balls now. And I still find myself looking for Boas and Balls on the internet... Seem to have my head stuck on getting an Anery, Albi or Jungle. I must have a problem...

How do you stop at 2? You don't, you can't, you wont want to. Just feed into the addiction. As long as you have the means to take care of all of them then get it. 2 is not alot. Talk to some guys on here they have hundreds. I have only about 15 and it's not difficult but it is a time consuming operation at times. But if you love it like I do, which you sound like you do you'll do just fine!
