  • [Shedding] Boa shed concern

Recently I bought this new tree/log branch for my juvenile bci and I found this morning that my boa had wedged itself into the log and had gotten stuck. Well my boa is in the middle of a shed and when I pulled it free of the log some of the skin that was to be shed had been torn off in several spots. It doesnt appear to have damaged any of the incoming skin, but obviously it is of concern to me. This is my first snake so im a bit of a newb

Give it some time to see if it will shed and rub the remainder itself. If not you can soak it for about a 1/2 hour in lukewarm water, then with a wet towel let the snake slide through the towel this should peel the remainder skin off and work with your hand the skin should roll and rub off. GENTLY IF IT DOESNT COME EASILY TRY AGAIN. As long as the skin is moistened it should come off.

It dosn't sound like anything to worry about. That is as long as none of the new skin is damaged. I wouldn't put the log back in.
