Winter transporting

Hi there everyone. So far, the boa has been healthy and there haven't seemed to be any problems. The only thing is, it's time that he has his annual vet check up and it's winter (Very cold, between 20š-28šf). The vet is about a half hour drive away (not including the wait in the vet's office), and I'm afraid we'd freeze the little guy before he got there. We could try to put a hot water bottle in the box, but since there's really no way to moniter the temperature he might get burned. It would also steadily loose heat, and by the time we leave it would probably be cold. Do you think that he'll be okay being unheated for so long, or are there any other ways to transport him? I think if you put the heat on high and the car ride wasnt to long, he would be fine, cause the vet office should be warm inside. Take a thick towel with you just in case. He can stay warm in that.

There is actually a good and inexpensive way to provide temporary heat. Purchase some of the hand warmers at your local walmart/kmart etc. These when opened and exposed to air will warm up and provide good heat source up to 10 hours.

They come in 2 and 4 packs, and are very inexpensive.

I transport my 3 snakes like this all the time. I am currently working in North Carolina and go back and forth to home (Virginia) every few weeks. I have styrofoam coolers that I put a hand warmer in and they work great! As a matter of fact, I had to punch a few small holes in them because the heat was getting too high.
