    Re: PERSONALITY???

If it is a baby I try and not be in the same room, but if it is a little older its good to be in the same room and walk around so it can get used to you be around it. Dont try to pick it up, or move to close to the cage though. My two corn's will eat with me right next to them, but my baby Red wont.

      Re:PERSONALITY???

I guess it varies by snake. My young red tail seems to actually enjoy an audience. Still, I don't bother her while she is eating, nor do I really mess with her for at least 24 hours afterwards.

Well my boa eats with me around her everytime. Sometimes with a camera in her face. Some are more shy than others. Just depends on the individual snake.

Yup, totally varies by snake. My baby boa won't eat unless it's absolutely dark and quiet in the room. My ball python will eat anything, anytime. Their could be a crowd of people cheering him on and he wouldn't care.

            Re:PERSONALITY???

My baby boa did one time see me move around her and she spit some of it out accept she left the head in then she finished it off but my python has no problem with it I sometimes help her when she doesn't wrap the rat right and it's still able to breathe I'll move the tail around until she gets it right and sometime the big rats if I don't smack them on their head right I'll keep it from biting my baby. but thats it.

              Re:PERSONALITY???

My baby boa was fine with an audience at first. Then one time she started eating a mouse sideways and I got worried and took it away (she was ticked). Since then, I've had to cover the tank with a towel and be quiet and still till she's done. (We use a 20-gal aquarium to feed and she doesn't like people peeking anymore.)

Duchess sorta cares....Just depends on her mood. She is rather moody, as you well know.

There are times she wont touch the rat unless I leave her completely alone. Other times, she doesnt care and just snatches it right up. I never put her in a different room though. She is always out here with me. I just put the lid on her tub, leaving about 1" of space and leave her be, checking her every 5 mins cuz I am a worried mommy

                  Re:PERSONALITY???

Yea, when my boa is feeding, I cover her feeding container with a towel so its dark. My boa gets freaked out if she sees movement when she is eating.

Well my boa doesnt really give a crap whether or not I'm present! yay! I, outta respect, usually just leave her be.

mine doesnt really care, i can put a camera in there too. but if i move around a lot, then she will bring part of her body in front of her eyes so that she cant see me. its kinda funny actually.
LOL first law of physics: if i cant see you, then you cant see me :P :P

Your post says it all...it's all about personality...my Brazilian BCC eats as soon as I drop the food, my peruvian BCC instead is a pain the but. He'll only eat if he is all alone in a closed box. They are both only months. I'm sure the peruvian will get better as it grows.

                            Re:PERSONALITY???

It seems to me that a snake is most vulnerable to predators when it's eating. That would certainly explain why a boa might not eat if there's anyone around.
