whats the law on snakes???????????????

I've once again been pondering and thinking...........I wanna Know as much info on cuurent boid laws in the US.
*I am aware of different constrictor laws in different counties and states. Like no snakes over so many feet ect..ect But recently Ive heard new imfo regarding renting, If the county you live in allows snakes of any size Its hard to deny a keeper His rite to have a snake(I heard that a snake is considered to be a "caged" animal like a gold fish or a hamster and not a pet. so were can I find rock solid laws on this topic. Me and my girlfriend are loolkinf for another apartment and if you tell the lanlord "i got a snake" even if he allows pets chances are he will deny you. Please help me with this topic thanxs Steve

I know this prob. doesnt help but what your lanlord doesnt know wont hurt you . I lived in an appartment for a while and had a snake there, the lady didnt know a thing and we were both fine with that.

i have lived in my apartment for a year now and they haven't found out that i have her...i am moving into another place too..and just as long as they don't know they can't complain...my neighbors now like her and have seen me walking around outside with her on my neck and they think it is cool....so just don't tell them and hope they don't find out....if they have to do maintence on your place you will have to find a way to hide it though...we had a 2 bedroom and there was never a reason for them to go into the room i had her in...so just be careful about that....

OK! This is how it go's... It does not matter if you have all the leagal proof in the world that a snake is a caged animal not a pet. if the people do not like snakes then they will not rent to you.... The first thing you say is that you in the future would like to get a caged animal like a turtel or hamster... see if this is ok with them... if so get a snake... Just don't let them know that you had it the hole time... or you can do what I do... What wont hurt the house the land lord wont know about... It is the best modo... Remember you do not have to lie, Just don't say anything... I hope I could help.

Thanx guys.....I guess Its a ongoing saga Of us herps having to hide are animals becuase of lack of understanding. I lived at a place 2 years ago had a argentine Boa (5-6 footer) and the downstairs tenant seen it and wanted the snake out or me out. I said i got rid of it (but of course I didn't), My bad. You see who's to say I don't wanna get more snakes or breed the ones I got and I just don't like hiding in the dark. But I guess I have to. To bad we live In such a urban enviroment, bet they don't have this problem In astralia or Mexico........Land of the free........... :-[

in assi. You can not have just about any type of animal.. Snakes for the most part.... but you just can get one and no one say's any thing.... But if they do you can get in real trouble... Like jail I think...

just-in-case there are some canadians reading this thread, the regulations as far as reptiles goes is left up to the city that you live in. i went to the place i got cleo from 2 months ago and all their reptiles were gone. when i asked the guy where they all were, he said that the city came in and said they had 1 day to get rid of them or they would be shut down. 1 mile away across the city border, there is a large reptile shop with no problems. where i live, you are allowed to own any reptile but stores can only sell reptiles that are non-venemous or do not constrict (which excludes most of the ones i want) leaving them allowed to sell corn and king snakes!! :P
it is similar to the problems with pit bulls, a few bad apples that don't look after their animals ruin it for the others. the best thing to do is EDUCATE the people around you and make them feel safe with their herps next door.

I agree with the guy from canada 1 bad apple destroys it for the rest of us Its a bunch of B.S.........Snakes Kill people....pittbulls Kill people.........crocodiles Kill people.......All these animals were here before us and besides Matches start fires that Kill people Maybe we should ban them to.......Alonng with auotomobiles and Wars we seem to have enough of them around. Sorry about the retort but somethings i dont agree with.
