I have a 7 1/2 foot adult male red tail boa (about 20 lbs) and for the last 18 months he has been in a cage I had built for him and has been content to lay around until feeding time. For the last week or more he has been crawling around a lot and trying to push his way out of his cage. He is well fed and nothing has changed concerning his husbandry. There is nothing apparently wrong with him including the absence of mites. Can anybody explain this sudden change in behavior?

Re: Restless adult male boa constrictor
Could be something as simple as the change of seasons, or some other change in his environment.
Any new sources of vibrations (TV, Stereo) that might be disturbing him?
Have you changed anything? I had a friend once who's boa went nuts when she switched brands of deodorant."It is not my responsibility to live up to other people's perceptions of who I am. I am only responsible for living up to the standards I set for myself, to be the person I want to be."

Re: Restless adult male boa constrictor
It is breeding season and that may have something to do with it. My mature males are cruising their cages too. He may go off feed as well so don't be surprised if he does. This is normal behavior.http://berkeleyknebel.wix.com/mississippimorphs

Re: Restless adult male boa constrictor
Thanks to everybody that chimed in. I thought it might be because of breeding season but of course I wasn't sure. I would be VERY surprised if this guy ever goes off feed.Of course my adult male ball python is fasting again. He went 8 months last year without eating. Let's see how long he goes this time.
