  • [Housing] What tanks for what age????

Hello. I was wondering what I should keep my (lil under) 2 foot baby RTB (BCI) in? I am currently using a 10 gallon. At what size should I move him to a 20? What size should I move him into a 20 gal? at what size should he be when I move him into 48x24x18? How long will it be till I should move him out of the 20? I want to move him from the 20 gallon right to the Boaphile but, I don't know if he is gonna get stressed or something.... Sorry for all these questions.

No tanks unless you're keeping fish. Boaphile cages are awesome. You can't go wrong there. No enclosure you can buy or build will be as large as the outdoors, in which boas are born in nature. In other words, you can't have too large of an enclosure. You just need to make sure there is adequate cover (hides, fake leaf litter, etc.) so the critter doesn't feel exposed.

I realize this but, this is just what I have already. I just need a couple of months to save up for a boaphile. How big should he be to move him into the 20 gallon?

Skip that and go right to a 421D. Then you'll buy the only cage you'll ever need again. To keep buying new fish tanks as he grows would be a ridiculous waste of money.

I already have 2 tanks (one ten which he is in now and a 20 gall which I want to move him into. I need to know how long I can keep him in a 20 gall without him getting stressed (due to the small space). I need a bit of time to save up $400....

a snake needs at least the amount of square feet it is long so a 2 ft snake needs 2 square feet of floor space. 8 ft snakes need at least 8 sq ft of floor space

If this were true, why would we keep 4' x 2' boaphiles for adult RTBs?

Um...that's 8 square feet. The math checks out.

But, the question still stands.... How long can my red tail last in a 20 gallon? He is just under 2 feet and in (temp until I get m 20 gall back from my friend) a 10 gallon. I need to save up to get the 421D Boaphile so..... Can someone please answer?

Does he have room to use his hot side belly heat and move to his cool side when he needs to? Can he comfortably strike and construct his prey? Does his water bowl mean he can't stretch out? Is he happy and eating? I put my BIG 6 month old into a spare 30gallon at 4 months and am ordering her Boaphile after Christmas. We are also building her a play area in a spare room so she can exercise herself when she is full grown

He'll outgrow that in a couple of months.

Yes. Yes. No, he can stretch out about completely (with some space left) What size (feet wise) should I get him the boaphile? I heard 3 ft but, I'd like to hear that from a fellow boa owner.

Sorry. I worded that wrong. I mean't at what size (feet wise) should my boa be when I get him a 421D Boaphile? I heard they should be 3ft when you move them out of the 20 gallon (or equivalent). I heard that off ball-pythons.net but, I wanna hear it again just to assure myself.
