  • [General Care] issue with humidity

I live in Florida and my boas are keep in the garage. They are in Rubbermaid containers. I Have holes all along the sides and a some in the lids. My humidity is staying 70% to 75%.
    How do I lower it?
Thank you for any advice you can give me.

I'd guess simply more holes ...especially in the top if possible ( won't be if in racks ).

It probably would be best to just get racks for your tub containers. But to kinda fix your problem. I would just add a few more holes. Also I knew it's very hot in Florida but what is the room temperature inside your garage because that could also be the problem as well.

The temp in my garage is 77 and the humidity is staying right at 75%.

if the humidity is high in the entire room then the only option I could see working is getting a dehumidifier

I agree. Best practice would be to get them into a temp/humidity controlled environment like a Boaphile cage. When I bought my first, I quickly realized how much easier they make controlling the environment of my boas (and 1 python)

If there is no condensation on the inside of the tubs then the humidity is not to high. As long as the tub is dry and the snake can regulate it's temperate around 83 degrees you won't have a problem. I do agree proper caging would be the best and easiest method to control the environment and also be in the animals best interest. But as long as your tubs are not wet inside and they have proper temps there is nothing wrong at all with 75% humidity.

I have seen 100% in my cages in the summer. Why would you want to lower it from 75? They actually do best in higher humidity. As long as the substrate isn't soaked and condensation on the cage 24/7 you have nothing to worry about.

Most keep at 70-80. And the snakes seem to do better. Remember a lot of those care sheets or sites were written a while ago and no one has updated or thinks their info is gospel no matter what anyone says.
