  • [Handling] Hook training?

I'm fairly new to red tails, but not snakes in general. I have balls and corns, so smaller snakes. I've been reading about hook training. Can someone elaborate on how to do that? I have about a 4' ft female and about a 2 1/2 foot female that I would like to hook train.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the forums!!

Hook training is simply using your hook to tap your boa on the head whenever you open the cage and aren't feeding your boa. In theory, doing this enough will keep your boa out of feeding mode when you don't want them in feeding mode.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if there was more to it than that.

Hook training helps a lot, just like the other comment. Your boa with learn the differences between feeding time and not feeding time. Its also easier to get them out of their cage without them striking at you..
